Materials and Caring for Your Jewellery

What are your gemstones made out of?

We use 5A Cubic Zirconia which are lab-created gemstones that are designed to mimic the look of a diamond. The "5A" rating is a grading system used to determine the quality of cubic zirconia, with 5A being the highest grade.

The hardness of 5A CZ is rated at 8.5 on the Mohs scale (closest to real diamonds that have rated at a 10), which means it is a relatively hard material that is resistant to scratches and damage. This makes it a durable option for jewellery that will withstand daily wear and tear.

What is a carat in jewellery?

A carat is a unit of measurement used to describe the weight of a gemstone. One carat is equal to 0.2 grams or 200 milligrams.

How do I care for my jewellery?

Proper jewellery care depends on the type of jewellery. However, in general, it's important to store your jewellery in a dry, clean place, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Clean it with a soft cloth and mild soap, and avoid exposing it to chemicals or abrasive materials.

What is Rhodium plating?

Rhodium (from the Platinum family) plating is commonly used in jewellery making, particularly for white gold jewellery, as it provides a bright and shiny surface . It also protects the metal from tarnishing, scratches, and other forms of wear and tear.

Rhodium itself is generally considered hypoallergenic because it is a noble metal, which means that it is very resistant to corrosion and does not react with other substances in the environment.
